How to run virtual mentoring with Appointlet: resourceful webinar by UYWI helping youth workers adjust to COVID-19.

With COVID-19 changing our world, many youth workers have been scrambling for resources to help us adjust to the new normal of transforming the work that we do to online platforms.

Fortunately, the Urban Youth Workers Institute (UYWI) is one of the many organizations providing resourceful webinars that offer answers to necessary questions. The webinar “How to Run A Virtual Mentoring Group” featured Eric Vasquez, director of “Just Us 4 Youth” (JU4Y). He reformatted his mentoring, tutoring, support groups, and more to online virtual platforms within 24 hours. Vasquez was able to contract those services with the local school district and is willing to share with other organizations how to do the same transformative work.

In the webinar, you’ll see how he used the website Appointlet (appointlet.com) to create an online format for students to set up appointments with mentors and tutors using Face Time and Google Meet. Appointlet also works with Zoom, GoToMeeting, Join.me, and other platforms. In addition, JU4Y has created larger mentoring groups using Restorative Justice practices on Instagram and Snapchat.
