Focus of 2013 National Hispanic Prayer Breakfast

For twelve years the National Hispanic Prayer Breakfast and Conference has been the primary Hispanic, faith-based gathering in Washington, DC. It convenes some 750 Hispanic clergy and community leaders with national policy makers for prayer, celebration, and advocacy.

The focus of this past June's conference was immigration advocacy. Every clergy present had the opportunity to share personal stories with their representatives on Capitol Hill regarding the "Dream Act".

A delegation of DVULI alumni and staff attended the 3-day conference and included staff person Zoraida Velez and Liaison Rick Diaz who accompanied:

Keynote addresses were provided by: Vice President Joe Biden, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, Chairman of the Republican National Committee Reince Priebus, Chair of the Democratic National Committee Debbie Wasserman-Shultz, and the Director of the Domestic Policy Council Cecilia Muñoz, among others. Renowned Hispanic gospel singers Marcos Witt, Daniel Calveti, Julissa and Christine D'Clairo performed as well as a distinguished violinist Jaime Jorge.
